Temporary, contract and permanent PA roles

Your responsibilities as a PA depend on the team, business and industry in which you are working. If you are providing high-level support to just one individual, such as a C-Suite executive or partner, you may find yourself managing their working life, managing complex diaries, booking global travel, managing inboxes and arranging meetings and other events.

A team PA will also be required to manage diaries and travel, but may do so for a wider team, while also acting as the first point of contact, preparing relevant business documents and conducting any other administrative duties.  Whatever you’re looking for, our expert team of personal assistant recruitment consultants will work with you to find the perfect position.

We recruit both permanent and temporary PA jobs in London and beyond. Both our permanent and temporary consultants are experts in their fields and have comprehensive experience in matching impressive PAs to employers of choice. Find out more about the team here.

So, if you are looking for a senior PA job in London or internationally, we can make your search an enjoyable and stress-free experience.

Advantages of being a personal assistant

There are a number of advantages to pursuing a career as a personal assistant. Not only is it a fast-paced role that presents a range of day-to-day challenges, meaning no two days will ever be the same, but you’ll get to work closely with colleagues and create lasting bonds in the workplace.

The roles we recruit for are diverse, dynamic and with some of the world’s best businesses, providing you with valuable experience as a personal assistant.

Skills needed to be a PA

Whilst there are plenty of PA jobs all over the world, the competition is also fierce for the most coveted positions, so having a robust skillset or breadth of experience will vastly improve your chance of landing your perfect personal assistant job.

The personal assistant role has changed dramatically since the 1980s. There is less call for those with traditional PA skills and a greater demand for candidates who have all-round capabilities, such as excellent organisational and project management skills and a strong knowledge of MS Office systems. In particular, all candidates should be confident in pulling together mail merges in Word; collating expenses and generating charts and tables in Excel and creating presentations or slideshows with custom animation in Powerpoint.

One of the most important skills for personal assistants in London is MS Outlook. Successful PA candidates need to be confident arranging diaries and travel using the diary functions, especially across multiple time zones.

Finally, it is expected that candidates can type at least 50WPM (words per minute) accurately. At Tiger, we are required by our clients to test all candidates and can provide you with your scores.

How much does a personal assistant earn?

A PA’s salary depends completely on the role, industry and location they are based in. In professional and financial services in the United Kingdom, they can expect to earn anywhere between £30,000-£60,000, while in creative and not-for-profit industries, the salary expands from £28,000- £50,000.

In a family office, a PA’s salary can range from £30,000- £60,000, while a virtual personal assistant can charge anywhere between £25-30 p/h.

Virtual personal assistant roles

Senior PAs that are looking for more flexibility, or returning to work after parental leave, may benefit from hunting for a virtual personal assistant (VA) job. This role requires the same organisation, communication and time management skills of a personal assistant, but is completed from the comfort of your home.

Just like a personal assistant job based in an office, a VA will usually look after diaries and inboxes, book travel and organise events. They may also work on larger projects, overseeing the process either in-part or in its entirety.
