B Corp is a global movement of businesses who support each other to improve and drive global change. B Corp Certified companies are legally required to consider the impact of decisions on all their stakeholders. It is a challenging and time-consuming process to be certified – now that we have, there is a transparent commitment to hold ourselves to these higher standards.
As a B Corp in the recruitment industry, we’re part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.
To be certified, a prospective B Corp must be assessed across five areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers. Following interviews, an audit and an evidence review, we filed articles of association with Companies House to ensure transparency of our intentions.
In July 2022, we received our B Corp Certification.
Following global events in 2020, we became acutely aware of the opportunity we had to influence our people, suppliers, candidates, clients and our industry to do better.
We considered the process of certifying as ‘corporate therapy’ – we discovered things about our company that we were proud of, areas for development, and activities that we had never considered. But like all therapy, we learned from the process, adapted and have improved as a business.
It doesn’t stop there though. As a B Corp, we must continuously review and improve. We’ll be circulating our impact report every year to show that we have stayed on track. We’re already working to ensure we are ready for recertification three years from now.
The journey has only just begun!
Nearly three quarters of the UK public believe businesses should have a legal responsibility to the planet and people, alongside maximising profits.
