HR Assistant Jobs

A HR assistant role is a great way to start your HR career. As an administrative professional, you will be a support to senior staff, helping with tasks such as welcoming new starters, contracts and employee lifecycle. A HR assistant job provides a great opportunity to develop strong HR and office skills. If involved in recruitment, you may be responsible for writing and posting job openings, gathering information on new applicants, contacting references and keeping candidates informed through the process.

In many medium-to-large companies, the HR department will employ dedicated internal recruiters to source professionals to fill job openings within their own company. The next step up for a HR assistant is a HR advisor job. This role usually requires relevant certificates and qualifications, and provides the opportunity to build on your HR assistant skills through a wide range of projects. You will be expected to advise and support line managers on employment matters, such as employee engagement, new starters, reviews of benefits and salaries

You may also be required to review existing HR processes and procedures, making suggestions to improve efficiency of the HR function. As with any HR role, strong people management skills are a must.

HR Manager Jobs

In a small to medium-sized company, an HR manager may be the most senior human resources job, responsible for guiding and managing the entire HR function, inclusive of services, policies and programmes. This role usually involves overseeing recruitment and on-boarding, workforce planning, performance management and employee OHS and engagement, as well as the development of company policies and procedures. In a larger company, an HR manager may report into an HR director and, as such, the responsibilities may be shared, or divided differently.  As the name suggests, an HR manager job can also include managing a team of support staff.

HR Director Jobs

The most senior position in a HR function is an HR director, otherwise known as chief people officer, chief HR officer or people director. An HR director will be part of the senior leadership team, usually reporting directly into the CEO. As such, they will take a strategic role in a business, leading the implementation of initiatives that are executed by the wider team. They will be required to ensure that HR policies and programmes align with wider organisational objectives, overseeing wider recruitment strategies, training and development and any financial requirements of the HR function. An HR director job will require high-level management of a diverse team, which could include HR managers, advisors, assistants and the wider support team.
