Data Center Engineer

My client in Zurich is looking for a Data Center Engineer to assist in the Installation and Setup of servers, network switches, storage devices and other data center hardware according to project specifications and client requirements.
The contract is for a minimum of 1 years, with chance of extension.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Installation and Setup: install servers, network switches, storage devices and other data center hardware according to project specifications and client requirements; Building up data center engineering knowhow (knowing what is state of the art on the market, find possibilities to upgrade/adjust our environment with focus on quality, security and efficiency
• Cabling and Power Management: plan, install and manage data center cabling( fiber optic, cooper and power cabling) and organize infrastructure layouts
• Troubleshooting: diagnose, troubleshoot and repair hardware and connectivity issues promptly to minimize downtime
• System integration: work closely with the network, network security team and system administration teams to integrate new hardware into existing datacenter environment; data center interconnect: operation and engineering of the ADVA infrastructure 
• Documentation: maintain detailed documentation of installation, configuration and hardware inventory using data center software and tools
• Compliance and Safety: ensure that all installations and maintenance activities comply with the company policies, industry standards and safety regulations.
• Upgrades and Modifications: assist in the upgrades of existing data center infrastructure, including firmware updates, component replacement and hardware reconfiguration
• Client Support: provide technical support to clients and internal teams regarding data center installation and related issue; End-to-end test together with customers for connectivity issues (LAN, WAN, DSL, Wi-Fi, DF)
